Sleeping Giant on Carningli Mountain.
Guarding the folk of Newport Pembrokeshire.
Lying in the hill top above Newport is the sleeping giant, now only visible from the north side of the River Nevern due to a plantation of larch trees.

The giant is made from three cairns, the main one being Carn Ffoi which is the largest of the group (see photo above, Carn Ffoi is the head of the giant).

Carn Ffoi was once a small hill fort and some remains can be found including a defensive embankment.

From Newport, head west along the A487. Just before leaving Newport, take the left hand road (sign posted - Cwm Gwaun/Gwaun Valley) up hill and continue on this road for some 3/4 of a mile. You will pass a larch tree plantation on your left, Carn Ffoi is just after this plantation on the left.
